Warriors take first of two against Portland

Beating the Blazers yesterday was necessary to avoid being on the short end of a tie breaker if the Blazers were to catch up. by season's end. The two losses to the Blazers happened in Portland to a talented young team playing with confidence in a friendly environment. During the Blazers' 13 game win streak in January, most of the success came at home. The Blazers are tremendously talented, but lack experience. This youth shows in the disparity between their stellar play at home and anxiousness when closing out on the road. Steve Blake missed two critical free throws down the stretch and the Blazers offense was obviously bothered by the noise level at Oracle.

Brandan Wright has stepped in nicely for Biedrins and made a strong campaign for Coach Nelson's trust. Wright is earning experience and will hopefully stay in the rotation when Biedrins returns.
